MORPETH LIONS CLUB

A thriving Morpeth community group has added to its numbers.

Les Jenkinson is the latest member of Morpeth Lions Club after being introduced to the organisation by Lion Geoff Bushell.

Mr Jenkinson was born and grew up in the West Yorkshire town of Holmfirth, the setting of long-running TV comedy The Last of the Summer Wine, so his fellow club members expect him to have plenty of madcap stunts in mind for their fundraising activities.

The new member studied chemical engineering at Aston University and worked in the pharmaceutical industry in Cheshire, Scotland and Northumberland until his recent retirement.

He is married to Linda and has two children and two grandchildren, the latest being just a few months old.

Mr Jenkinson is looking forward to spending more time enjoying his hobby of photography and, of course, being an active Lion.
