A Christmas helping hand

SCHOOL students in Ponteland have given people going through tough times a lift for the festive season.

Each tutor group at Ponteland High School provided food and presents for the batch of Christmas hampers.

They have been collected by a social worker and are being given to people in difficult situations, such as families who have to live in hostels to escape domestic violence and young people who have been forced to leave home.

Pont High headteacher Kieran McGrane said: “It’s brilliant that the students and staff are showing practical kindness towards people less fortunate.”
