Abuse campaign welcomed

A NORTHUMBERLAND Liberal Democrat councillor who sits on the Police and Crime Panel scrutinising the new Police and Crime Commissioner has welcomed a Northumbria Police campaign to tackle domestic abuse.

The campaign will run until the end of January.

All local authorities within the Northumbria force area, including Northumberland County Council, are signed up as partners.

Lesley Rickerby, who is also the county council’s executive member for children’s services, said: “I’m pleased that Northumbria Police has decided to tackle domestic abuse like this.

“I hope that this high profile campaign will encourage more victims of domestic violence to come forward.”
