Action to tackle teenage abuse

A NEW police campaign is under way to tackle abuse among teenagers.

This Is Abuse is a national Home Office initiative, supported by Northumbria Police, which aims to prevent teenagers from becoming victims of abuse or perpetrators of abusive relationships.

The campaign is targeted at 13 to 18-year-olds and explains that abuse, whether mental or physical, is unacceptable.

Young people are encouraged to seek help and advice and a dedicated website has been set up.

Information can be found in schools, colleges and community venues.

To contact police about the issue call 101, or for further information visit www.direct.gov.uk/thisisabuse
