Ambulance service gets the green light

THE North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) has been given the green light following a spot inspection.

After visiting its premises on four days in December, the Care Quality Commission (CQC) reported back that NEAS had met all the required standards, which include consent to care and treatment, care and welfare of people using its services, cleanliness and infection control, requirements relating to workers and the quality and suitability of management.

Inspectors observed how people were being cared for, examined the personal care or treatment records of those who use the service and spoke with patients as well as carers and family members, staff and stakeholders.

Crews received high praise from those who had used the emergency ambulance service for their professionalism and communication skills.

The CQC report concluded that people received the care, treatment and support which met their needs.
