Anglers could hold crime key

ANGLERS across Northumberland could hold vital information about a high value burglary.

Police are appealing for anyone to come forward who may have information about the break-in at Chatton Trout Fisheries in the north of the county.

And they are especially keen to speak to people who may have been offered the stolen items for sale, or received them as Christmas presents.

Among the items taken were fishing rods by Greys, G-Loomis and Sharpes of Aberdeen, polo shirts and fleeces bearing the logo of Chatton Trout Fisheries, a Gore-Tex fishing jacket by Greys GRXi, fishing equipment bags, boxes of fishing flys and fishing lines.

The haul amounts to around £20,000 of gear.

The burglary took place between 4pm on December 15 and 3am the following morning.

A £500 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101, ext 69191.
