An eight-year-old boy used pedal power to raise money for a good cause.
Ben Wilson, who attends Morpeth First School in Goosehill, did a sponsored bike ride at the promenade in Newbiggin. He collected £50 for Cancer Research UK.
The Loansdean resident cycled about four miles in total within a certain area and he received encouragement from sister Laura, aged 10, who was on roller-skates.
He said he was inspired by the charity’s radio adverts and his friend’s brother, a cancer sufferer. He thanked family, friends, neighbours and passers-by for their donations.
