Hundreds of women made their way to the Lady of the North to join the fight against cancer.

A Race for Life fund-raising run took place at giant landform Northumberlandia near Blagdon for Cancer Research UK.

Despite chilly conditions, many female runners took on the 5km course, which allowed them to run, jog or walk a lap-and-a-half of the site, before making their way onto the sculpture, while being cheered on by family and friends.

The run was organised by Northumberland Sport in partnership with Northumberland Wildlife Trust. MacDonald Linden Hall donated raffle prizes and Azure Garden Centre helped with logistics.
