Beware of burglars

PONTELAND residents have been warned to be vigilant following an attempted burglary in the area.

Burglars tried to get into a house off Jackson Avenue sometime between 8pm on Sunday, April 15 and 11am the following day, but they were unsuccessful and nothing was stolen.

Locals are being advised to lock their doors and windows overnight and when leaving the house, and to report any suspicious behaviour to police.

East Tynedale Neighbourhood Inspector Kevin Oates said: “We’ve seen a number of burglaries and thefts recently from cars and garages in Ponteland and Darras Hall. These have mainly been where they’ve been left unlocked and property out on display.

“Don’t make it easy for thieves — lock your cars and keep your belongings safe.”

Anyone with information about the attempted burglary should contact officers on 101, ext 69191.
