Burglar disturbed in attempted break-in

POLICE are investigating after someone tried to burgle a property in Heddon on the Wall.

In the early hours of Tuesday, January 29, attempts were made to break in through the wooden doors of the garage and then through a door, but the offender made off after opening the door when the householder was disturbed.

Nothing was stolen.

Officers received a call about the incident, which took place in Antonine Walk, at 2.40am.

Witnesses or anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area around that time should call police on 101, extension 69191, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
