Burglar is banned

A BURGLAR has been banned from the Ponteland and Darras Hall areas of Northumberland for a year.

Robert Cawthorn, 37, from Rupert Terrace, Newburn, appeared at Tynedale Magistrates Court on Tuesday, December 22, charged with burglary in Darras Hall.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and was given 200 hours community service, ordered to pay CPS costs and given a community order banning him from entering the Ponteland and Darras Hall areas for 12 months.

East Tynedale police inspector Kevin Oates said: "This example shows that those who commit crime face a variety of punishments, including being banned from areas where they carry out their offences.

"And if someone who is banned is caught where they shouldn't be then they face being arrested again, for breaching their order, and possibly prison."
