Cash boost
A RANGE of organisations have received grant funding from Ponteland Town Council.
The Northumberland Youth Service West Area team was given £5,500, which will be spent in Ponteland. The money will contribute to monthly events, some intensive sessions with young people who need support, sporting activities and staffing costs.
A Darras Hall Estate Committee application for £600 to maintain the bridle path was approved and £250 was allocated to Ponteland URC Church to assist with the setting up of a new carers project, supported by Diagonal Alternatives and Age UK, that would help local residents with dementia. Community Action Northumberland received £75 towards its work in the area and plants with a value of up to £100 will be provided for the garden at Athol House in Callerton Lane.
In addition, the council agreed to install a bench seat next to the soon to be built dipping platform at Oxbow Lake following a request from the Friends of Ponteland Park.
