Churches united in day of prayer

WORSHIPPERS will be coming together in Morpeth for a special annual prayer service.

The Women’s World Day of Prayer Service takes place in the town next week for people of all Christian denominations.

The global Ecumenical service this year has been prepared by Christian women of France and is based on the theme, ‘I was a stranger and you welcomed me.’

Morpeth Churches Together has organised the local service, which has become a key event in the group’s calendar.

Music for the occasion, which also has a French flavour, will be provided by a choir and instrumentalists drawn from churches across Morpeth and Mitford.

The speaker will be Heather Belleguelle.

The service is open to men, as well as women, for people of all ages and backgrounds. It is usually well attended and offers a unique opportunity for people from different churches to worship together.

Refreshments will be provided afterwards.

The worldwide movement is expected to involve services in more than 170 countries, spreading a wave of prayer across the globe. It will begin over the Island of Samoa and sweep across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe and North and South America, before closing with prayers in American Samoa.

The Morpeth service will take place at the New Life Christian Centre in Dacre Street on Friday, March 1, at 2pm. All welcome.
