Couples say I do to tying the knot
THE bridal business is booming in Northumberland – and this week there is another chance to promote it.
Figures show that while there is a decline in weddings nationwide, Northumberland saw a 12 per cent increase in couples tying the knot last year.
There are more than 70 wedding venues across the county, as well as numerous small businesses specialising in services such as flowers, food and photography.
Registrars from Northumberland County Council will be showcasing all there is to offer at the UK Wedding Show in Newcastle this weekend.
The Metro Arena fair is expected to attract more than 7,000 visitors and more than 100 exhibitors.
Council Executive Member for Customer Relations and Culture Neil Bradbury said: “Our aim is to raise awareness of our beautiful county, our friendly people and our professional businesses in the hope that the come to Northumberland to get wed and will bring money into the local economy.”
