Cyclist dies after Northumberland road collision

A cyclist injured in a collision with a car in north Northumberland has now died.

George Eyre, 62, from Tweedmouth, Berwick, died in hospital on Tuesday.

The collision happened on Monday May 23, at 4.15pm on the roundabout on Northumberland Road, in Tweedmouth near to Farm Foods.

Mr Eyre was taken to Newcastle RVI by air ambulance with serious head injuries. He was put into an induced coma before being given a blood transfusion en route to hospital.

Officers are carrying out enquiries into the collision and are appealing for witnesses.
