EU plans for tree disease
NORTH East MEP Fiona Hall has welcomed European moves to try to halt the spread of diseases such as Ash Tree Dieback.
The European Commission is considering an EU-wide annual surveillance regime across member states to keep checks on harmful organisms.
Ms Hall said: “I am glad the Commission is looking to improve its monitoring procedures. I firmly believe the European Union is best placed to share information and to make sure the continent’s biodiversity and local nursery businesses are protected.”
