A WIDDRINGTON Station family were celebrating after a special delivery brought a new arrival on Christmas Day.
Jamie Thomas Scott was the first to come along at Wansbeck General Hospital when he was born at 12.05am. He weighed 8lb 10oz.
Mum Nicola was starting to wonder when he would arrive as the due date was December 16.
Dad Thomas and Nicola’s three other children – Lauren, 15, Natasha, 12, and Robbie, eight – welcomed her and baby Jamie back home a few days later.
She said: “When he didn’t arrive on the due date, friends and family joked that I would have Christmas dinner in hospital, but that’s exactly what happened.
“On Christmas Eve I had pains all day and when Tom came in from work, I said we needed to go to Wansbeck General as soon as possible.
“The doctors had to break the waters and I can remember it being around 11.30pm and they were saying Jamie may not be born until Christmas Day.
“The midwife was great. She was there with me most of the time and she was excited because he was the first Christmas Day baby that she had delivered.
“My father is called Noel, but we wanted the kids to name the baby. They mentioned Jamie and we liked it. We’re all delighted with the new arrival and Christmas will be extra special for us from now on.”
