Funds for disabled get warm welcome

EXTRA funding for disabled residents in Northumberland has been welcomed.

In addition to a £1million grant, the county council will receive an extra £169,591 from the Government’s Disabled Facilities stream to help people to remain independent in their own homes.

Coun Ian Lindley said: “This extra funding really is going to have a huge impact on the quality of life of disabled people across our county.

“It can be hard for able-bodied people to appreciate just how big a difference simply being able to move about your own home and live an independent life can make, but during my time as Executive Member for Adult Care and Wellbeing I have seen first hand what good this funding can do for our disabled residents.”
