Further snow expected

FRESH alerts have been issued by the Met Office to be prepared for snow.

Forecasts show that more heavy snow is likely around Morpeth tonight, continuing into Tuesday morning.

The Met Office has issued Yellow warnings for snow in the region on Tuesday and Wednesday. Accumulations are expected to be small over lower lying coastal areas, but inland there could be 2cm to 5cm. The snow is likely to turn lighter on Tuesday afternoon and on Wednesday it should turn more patchy and die out. However, during the evening temperatures are likely to fall sharply and icy stretches are expected on roads and pavements.

There is expected to be some respite from the flurries on Thursday, but light snow is forecast for Friday.
