SMOKERS in South Tyneside are being encouraged to use a range of services to help them quit.

To mark tomorrow’s annual No Smoking Day the new Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Stop Smoking Service will provide improved access to support at a wide range of venues, including GP practices, pharmacies and community organisations seven days a week.

Jo Dickinson, manager of Gateshead, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Stop Smoking Service, said: “We’re delighted to be launching the new service where people can take the vital first step towards quitting.
