A GIRL has been airlifted to hospital after being hit by a car on the A697.

The incident happened at around 11am yesterday when the youngster, aged between 12 and 18, was hit by a car near Longhorsley.

Crews from the Great North Air Ambulance and paramedics treated her at the scene before she was flown to Newcastle’s RVI with leg, arm and chest injuries.

Her condition is not life-threatening.
