Ryan Harland, 25, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to three months in prison after he was found in breach of the order when he appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court, in Bedlington, last Tuesday.

Harland had been banned from entering an area in Pegswood, Morpeth, but last Tuesday he was found in the area and arrested. He had been released from prison six days earlier after serving four months for a similar breach.

Harland was originally made the subject of an 18-month injunction in September 2012, after an Isos tenant made significant complaints about his anti-social behaviour. At the time he was banned from making contact with his victim and a member of his family, and excluded from several streets in the area.

Prior to the latest offence, he had breached the order 27 times, resulting in him serving multiple prison sentences and the extension of the injunction until April 2017.

Two weeks ago, Isos successfully applied for the order to be altered, banning him from a property in Pegswood and from using or threatening violence against his victim.

Isos Safer Neighbourhoods team leader Laurie Edmundson said: “Isos takes anti-social behaviour very seriously and where we can take legal action, we do. We then remain persistent in tackling those who chose not to abide by their orders.

“The order has cost Isos in excess of £20,000 and while this is expensive, the other option of removing the injunction meant removing the protection for the victim and possibly other residents in the community.”
