Morpeth PO move helps secure shop future
THE successful relocation of Morpeth Post Office has helped to secure the future of a high street stationers'.
Shoppers have been assured that Morpeth's T&G Allan store in Newgate Street will remain despite the closure of the company's Whitley Bay outlet.
Bosses say that the North Tyneside shop had seen a "notable decrease in business" in recent years, while trade remains stable at Morpeth, helped by the introduction of the Post Office.
A statement from the company reads: "T&G Allan's Morpeth store will remain unaffected and will continue to trade as normal following the successful introduction of a new Post Office concession in the store."
The Whitley Bay branch is expected to close in February, with the loss of 13 jobs.
