NORTHUMBERLAND County Council is using state-of-the-art technology to combat the potholes that have been causing a major problem for motorists.

Local services staff are being armed with a new ally in the fight against these defects – the Jetpatcher.

Following a successful trial, the authority has bought two Jetpatching units. They are self-contained and carry all the necessary equipment and materials to repair potholes.

The machines are already helping to improve unclassified and C roads across the county.

Residents can report a pothole online at www.northumberland.gov.uk
