Paul gives a lesson in forecasting the weather
Lights, Camera, Action - BBC weatherman Paul Mooney with budding forecasters Martha Hornett, Jessica Coates and Michael Plank from Chantry Middle School.
A GROUP of Morpeth schoolchildren got a taste of what life is like for a TV weatherman when a well-known face paid a visit.
Paul Mooney, who does many of the forecasts for BBC Look North, came along to Chantry Middle School and Technology College after receiving a letter from one of the school’s student teachers.
He brought a blue screen and camera with him so Year Five pupils could play the roles of presenters, directors and camera operators.
He also spoke about the important functions of the Met Office and how he puts together a forecast.
Geography teacher for Year Five, Gillian Naylor, said: “Mr Mooney was an excellent guest and he even gave us an impromptu performance.
“Later in the day, he mentioned Chantry on Look North.
“The pupils really enjoyed his visit and were thrilled to get the chance to do their own forecast.”
