Play area glass sparks concern

CONCERNS have been raised by Pegswood residents after bits of glass were found in a children’s play area.

The dangerous items were discovered in the sandpit at the Juliet Oakley Activity Area, Welfare Park.

Pegswood Parish Council Clerk Kevin Cassie said the authority does not have the resources to check the site every morning and the police don’t have the time to go through all the hours of CCTV footage, so it was vital that members of the public contact the relevant authority as soon as possible if they see some suspicious activity.

But he added that the sand in the pit will be replaced by bark because this will make it easier to look out for any sharp items in the future.
