Plenty of books after school’s good read

A sponsored read by pupils at Chantry Middle School in Morpeth has led to more than �1300 worth of books being given to the school. Pupils raised �841from the sponsored event and Usborne Books then donated an additional 60% of free books. SCHOOL pupils rose to the challenge and they have been rewarded with hundreds of new books.

A sponsored read of everything from novels and poetry to comic books and recipes took place at Chantry Middle School and Technology College in November to raise money for a scheme run by Angela Wilson of Usborne Books at Home and School.

The students collected £841 in sponsor money and Usborne donated another £504 itself. On Monday, the school received £1,345 worth of new Usborne books.

Special bookplates have also been made to acknowledge all the local businesses that made a donation.
