There were plenty of smiles at Ponteland High School last Thursday as students celebrated doing very well in their GCSEs.
Sam Coverdale gained two A* grades as well as six As and two Bs. He will study English language, maths, Spanish and PE or sports studies at AS-Level.
He said: “I was nervous last night because there were a few subjects I wasn’t sure about, so I’m very pleased with these results.
“At first, I didn’t think they were mine and I’m surprised that I did so well in chemistry and geography.
“I’m really looking forward to studying Spanish in more depth.”
Samantha Harrison achieved an A* in ICT, four As, three Bs and a distinction* in business studies.
“I’m happy that the waiting is over and I’m delighted with these grades,” she said.
“I’m doing English language, geography, law and one other subject for my AS-Levels.
“I may do law at university, so it’s good that I’ll have the chance to study the subject over the next two years.”
Georgia Darwent received one A* grade, as well as three As, four Bs and one C.
She said: “I’m really pleased with how well I’ve done in my GCSEs.
“I’m thrilled with the A* in PE and I did better than I thought in geography as I found it quite difficult.”
Like Sam and Samantha, she will return to Ponteland High and she is going to study biology, health and social studies, psychology and one other subject at AS-Level
