SCHOOL students have received recognition for their efforts during a global event.

The group from Chantry Middle School and Newminster Middle School participated in Save the Children’s World Marathon Challenge along with other children around the world on the same day and they have now received a silver salver from the charity.

Along with year 9 pupils at King Edward VI School, they ran in a relay set-up until they completed the full marathon distance.

The event is part of the charity’s efforts to reduce the number of children who die or are permanently damaged because of starvation.
