Register now to vote for new role

RESIDENTS must act now if they wish to use a postal vote for the forthcoming Police and Crime Commissioner elections.

The new role is being created to replace police authorities, and commissioners will be responsible for setting police priorities, overseeing budgets and hiring chief constables.

The ballot to choose a candidate will be held on Thursday, November 15.

But application forms for a postal vote must be completed and returned to Northumberland County Council by 5pm on Wednesday, October 31.

Proxy applications, for someone to vote on your behalf, must be submitted by Wednesday, November 7.
