FOUR adults, including two children, have been rescued after their 4X4 became stuck in a Morpeth river Police received a report of a vehicle stuck at Bennett’s Walk at around 2.20pm on Thursday.

Emergency services attended the scene and two adults, two children and two dogs were rescued by Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service and taken safely to land.

They are reported to be shaken but unhurt.

It is believed that the car was taken downstream by the swollen river when crossing a ford.

Drivers are being reminded by police to remain vigilant when crossing water.
