Roadworks delay warning

SOME residents and commuters face a delay to their journey into Morpeth when works take place at a town junction.

Traffic management changes are required at the point connecting Dark Lane, Damside and Staithes Lane as part of the Morrisons supermarket project. Resurfacing will also be carried out on a section of the Dark Lane road.

The works, which start on Monday, will be done by Tolent on behalf of Dransfield Properties and three-way temporary traffic lights are set to be in operation from Monday, January 28.

They will be in place until Tuesday, February 5 and on this night the road will be closed through to the early hours of Wednesday morning for planing off works. The contractors are not permitted by the county council to work two nights in a row so they will be back at the start of the following week to re-surface and add new white lines.

Amanda Holmes from Dransfield Properties said: “We’re trying to minimise disruption during these works and Tolent will keep everyone informed, although the dates may change in the event of harsh weather.”
