PLANS by a county organisation to purchase 12 acres of farmland adjacent to its existing reserve at Hauxley are progressing well.
Northumberland Wildlife Trust has said that the price and basic terms have been agreed and the deal should be complete in May.
A team will then make improvements that will increase access for visitors and help habitat creation.
As part of the land has an arable crop, the wildlife charity will have to wait for this to be harvested over the summer before its staff can carry out changes to this particular section.
Work has already started on the first stage, which includes creating a new route through the Willow Carr.
