STRONG winds have been causing problems across Northumberland.

Travel services have been disrupted, roads have been blocked by trees or debris and power cuts have affected dozens of properties.

In Morpeth, the road at Copper Chare near the junction with Wellway was closed when a tree came down, as shown in the photo above.

Meanwhile, communities along the Northumberland coast are being warned to prepare for the risk of coastal flooding.

The Environment Agency and Met Office are forecasting that the high winds and resulting large waves will combine with spring tides to produce a tidal surge later today and tomorrow.
