Shed break-in prompts police appeal for help
POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a shed burglary on the outskirts of Morpeth.
It happened between 9pm on Thursday, December 13, and 6am on Friday, December 14, at a shed at Borehole Cottages. Two strimmers worth £200 were stolen.
Officers are also advising residents to do all they can to avoid being targeted by thieves.
Morpeth Neighbourhood Sergeant Sharon Wilmore-Greaves said: “It’s a timely reminder that opportunist thieves do operate and while we do everything possible to trace those responsible, residents should take crime prevention steps to reduce the risk of falling victim to such a crime.
“This includes making sure cars, homes and outbuildings such as sheds and garages are secure at all times. Valuables should be removed from cars and nothing of value inside the home should be left within view of windows and doors.
“Outbuildings should be securely locked and it’s worth considering an alarm, which deters thieves.”
