Specialist duo join the team

TWO specialist doctors have returned to Northumberland to join the team for the new emergency hospital.

Dr Elizabeth Hall and Dr Rob Whittle have joined Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust as consultant intensivists and anaesthetists.

They will provide expert care to patients in Wansbeck and North Tyneside general hospitals and will later form a key part of the trust’s critical care team at the specialist emergency hospital being developed in Cramlington, which will be the first in the country to have emergency care consultants on hand 24 hours-a-day.

Their appointments bring the total number of specialists trained to the highest possible level in intensive care at the trust to five.

Both doctors have worked for the trust earlier in their careers and wanted to return.
