Summer crime crackdown
EXTRA police patrols have been taking place in Northumberland to crack down on summer crime.
The initiative, which has been running since July, is part of the Summer Policing Plan to tackle offences that often increase in the holiday season.
Officers have been carrying out foot and vehicle patrols at key times, checking pubs to ensure they are well run and taking action against people being drunk and disorderly.
Early intervention has also been used to address anti-social behaviour and prevent it escalating into other offences.
Visitors have been given crime prevention advice and guidance on acceptable standards of behaviour.
Neighbourhood Inspector Paul Truscott said: “By giving out advice and stopping incidents before they start, we can ensure everyone, both residents and visitors, can enjoy the area and all it has to offer.”
