Support old-age conditions

AN organisation which supports people who develop major disabilities in their old age is appealing for volunteers from Morpeth.

People who are born deaf or blind, or become so early in life, are taught methods of communication and mobility, but for those who become deaf-blind later in life it is usually too late to take on these new skills.

Scene Enterprises, which specialises in deaf-blind awareness, communication tactics and safe guiding, is offering people living in the town and its surrounding villages the opportunity to attend a free two-day training course during the next couple of months.

Those who attend will be given the skills to make a difference to people who suffer from age-related deaf-blindness.

This includes helping them to communicate, get around safely and regain a level of independence.

For more details about training dates and venues, or to register, telephone 0191 410 2201, or visit www.in-good-hands.org
