Teenager’s exam success
A HIGH-FLYING Morpeth teenager has collected a string of top grades in his GCSE exams.
Ben Howie, pictured, who attends Newcastle School for Boys, collected no fewer than five A* grades, two As and a B in the exams and will now go on to study A-levels in Biology, Maths, Chemistry and Psychology.
The school overall achieved a 100 percent pass rate, with more than a third of its grades awarded A* or A.
Headmaster David Tickner said: “I’m delighted for all of our boys who have achieved success. This includes the significant number who have achieved the very top grades, but it also includes those boys who have results that might appear more modest. These boys too have worked hard and so have their teachers to add significant value to their final grades. We are a relatively small school, which allows us to provide individual support and guidance.”
The school’s A-level pass rate was 97.2 per cent.
