The jean genies
Jean Genie.......Morpeth's KEVI High School students take part in a Jeans for Genes event at the school- (left to right) Miles McQueen, George Aynsley, Charlotte Jackson, Ewan Morrison, Ryan Green, Lauren Caisley, Lily Owens, Hannah Pape and Ella Hall-Younger.
PUPILS at Morpeth’s high school were decked out in denim to raise money for charity.
Jeans for Genes Day saw workers and students from across the UK pay at least £1 to wear jeans instead of their usual work clothes or uniforms and King Edward VI School took part once again.
It collected more than £1,200 for Genetic Disorders UK, which provides vital care and support for thousands of children with genetic disorders.
Biology teacher Louise Maule, who co-ordinated the activity at KEVI, said: “All the pupils watched a video which showed examples of the kinds of families that will benefit from the donations.
“Afterwards, they were keen to take part in Jeans for Genes Day so they could make a contribution to the charity’s important work.”
