The toast is charity work

VOLUNTEERS recently toasted the launch of a new Marie Curie fund-raising team at a Morpeth pub.

The Morpeth Group’s aim is to raise vital funds so Marie Curie nurses can continue to provide free care to people with terminal illnesses and encourage new supporters to help the charity.

Meetings will take place on the last Wednesday of every month at the Black Bull, Bridge Street.

Publicity Officer Emma Scott said: “We are really excited about this launch.

“There are so many Marie Curie supporters, so I think having the group is a fantastic way to get everyone together to offer support and promote all the different Marie Curie fund-raising activities going on in and around Morpeth.”

The first Morpeth fund-raising activity will be a Jamie at Home evening at La Bodega Tapas Bar, Newgate Street, on Tuesday, October 23, from 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £3.50, can be purchased in advance by calling La Bodega on 01670 516055.

The next meeting is on Wednesday, starting at 6.30pm
