Time limit plan for parish council

MOVES are under way to set a time limit for parish meetings.

Widdrington Station and Stobswood Parish councillor David Baron has asked fellow members to back his suggestion for the council’s monthly meetings to finish no later than 9pm.

He said: “I feel that when meetings go on longer people lose interest.”

Councillors Jacek Juszcyk and Kevin Batson both supported the idea, with Coun Juszcyk saying that with a 6.30pm start time, an 8pm deadline should be sufficient.

A compromise was reached for the meetings to finish no later than 8.30pm.

The proposal will go on the parish’s agenda next month to formally change standing orders.
