Turbines bid approved

A PROPOSAL to install two wind turbines at a site in Northumberland has been given the green light.

The 19.9m to blade tip structures will be put in place on land south of Newtonstead, Kirkharle.

There was a letter opposing the application from a local resident and Bavington Parish Council raised an objection. Concerns included potential noise disturbance, the impact on the Grade II star-listed Thockrington Church and the proximity to breeding Peregrine falcons.

But county council planning officers said there were no reasons to refuse the bid and it was approved by members of the authority’s planning and environment committee.
