Twinning on back burner

A SELF-IMPOSED bar on Morpeth town twinning will remain in place until after council elections.

Morpeth Town Council had been asked to reconsider its policy against such schemes following a twinning request from Es Castell in Menorca, where Naval hero and former Oldgate resident Admiral Lord Collingwood lived for a time.

However, councillors have decided that with elections looming in May it should be the new council that reviews the policy.
