Vandals wreck festive display

A VILLAGE Christmas display was wrecked by vandals.

New lights were bought to decorate the Christmas Tree in Widdrington Station this year, but within days of going up, vandals had cut the string, plunging the tree into darkness.

Parish councillors were planning to put up lights again next year, but now there may be a re-think.

Chairman Joe Sennett said: “If they are going to be vandalised I can’t see the point. The tree looked well lit, but it didn’t last very long.”
