Warning to drivers

DRIVERS in Morpeth should be on their guard after a spate of thefts from vehicles.

A number of items have been stolen from unlocked cars in the town centre and around Morpeth in recent weeks, including satnav systems, iPods, sunglasses, coats and loose change.

Acting Inspector Sharon Wilmore-Greaves said: “We are currently investigating a number of cases where items left on display in unlocked cars have been stolen.

“We suspect that the person responsible may be living rough around the town and we are asking people to be particularly aware of their surroundings when parking their cars.”

Anyone with information about the offences should contact police on 101.
