Ten students from Chantry Middle School and Technology College ended the school year on a high by achieving�the British Science Association's Silver CREST Award. TEN pupils at Chantry Middle School and Technology College had just the formula for success in prestigious science awards.
The Year 8 youngsters, all aged 12 or 13, earned the British Science’s Association’s Silver CREST Award by attending extra classes after school throughout the year.
The awards, which required the young scientists to perform complex research and experiments, are usually undertaken by much older pupils.
Chantry’s Head of Science Tom Jackson said that they had developed a wide range of scientific and communication skills during the course.
He said: “They have learnt that scientific research is seldom straight-forward and requires detailed planning, accuracy and very importantly, perseverance.
“Completing the award is really a great achievement and we are all very proud of their success.”
