MISS Northumberland has now begun her campaign to capture the crown of England — but she needs your help.
Just a month after winning the inaugural county competition, former Morpeth student Laura Hickey is gearing up for the finals of the nation’s biggest beauty pageant, being held on July 18 and 19 in Birmingham.
The 21-year-old from Wooler, who attended King Edward VI School, is just one of 61 regional winners who will battle for the title of Miss England, with the successful entrant going on to represent the country at Miss World later this year.
But Laura, who is currently studying at Leeds Met University to become an osteopath, will also face a public vote, the winner of which will be guaranteed a place in the final 15 of the contest.
“The voting is open until July 19, so I need as much support as possible,” said Laura, whose journey began when she won the opening heat of Miss Northumberland at the Metrocentre in April.
“It’s very exciting and I still can’t believe that it’s me who is going to the Miss England final.
“I really want to represent the county well on the national stage and do the best I can for Northumberland at Miss England.”
