Mamma Mia, it’s an Italian job at market

ITALIAN market traders have returned to set up stalls in Morpeth.

The Mamma Mia Italian market was a hit with shoppers when it visited the town for the first time earlier this year.

So the Morpeth Town Team has joined forces with the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade to bring it back this week. Goods include 15 different types of olive oil, vinegars, cheese, pasta, sweets, olives and bread.

And Sanderson Arcade is keeping the Italian theme going with music and decorations.

Manager Medi Parry, who is part of the Town Team, said: “When the Italian traders first came to Morpeth a few months ago they were well received by local shoppers. This weekend they will have some new stalls and we are hoping that once again they will draw shoppers into the town, as well as prove popular with local residents.”

The market runs for three days from today, with stalls open 9am to 6pm each day.
