Police are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Morpeth.

It happened between 10.35pm and 10.45pm last Friday when a 29-year-old man was assaulted by another man as he walked in the alley leading away from The Comrades Club. He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for head and facial injuries.

Detective Chief Inspector Jamie Pitt said: "Inquiries into the incident are ongoing and we have had officers on patrol in the area speaking with people and offering reassurance. We ask for anyone that may have witnessed the assault or who was in the area at the time to contact us as you may have vital information to help."

Inquiries into the assault are ongoing and police are appealing for witnesses to contact them. Any witnesses to the incident, or anyone with any information about the incident, is asked to contact police on 101 extension 69191 quoting reference 1321 23/10/15.
